NGVL at Southern Research Institute - Toxicology

Southern Research Institute, a not-for-profit contract research organization, head-quartered in Birmingham, Alabama , and affiliated with the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has been in business since 1941. We have been conducti ng preclinical toxicology studies for U.S. Government agencies (e.g., NCI, U.S. Army and NIDA) and for U.S. and foreig n pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in support of various regulatory submissions (e.g., INDs and NDAs) for mo re than three decades. A NGVL National Toxicology Center was established at Southern Research Institute in 2001 under a grant from the National Center for Research Resources (NIH).

Studies are conducted in our full service, AAALAC-certified animal facilities that include BSL2 and BSL3 animal roo ms. In-house laboratories supporting the toxicology program include those that provide clinical pathology, gross and microscopic pathology, PCR-RT, cell biology and immunology evaluations. State-of-the-art bioanalytical chemistry lab oratories support toxicology studies that require dose formulation analyses, pharmacokinetic and ADME determinations. All work is conducted in compliance with applicable Good Laboratory Practice regulations such as those promulgated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (21 CFR Part 58).
